Plunge for Special Olympics

Hop, skip, run or jump into the chilly waters of the Bay Area for our amazing Special Olympics athletes.  

Funds raised from the Polar Plunge will help us continue to create change in our communities and enhance the lives of children and adults with intellectual disabilities through sports.  Join the fun and make a difference!  

There are several ways to participate and you'll select your option when you register.  

5K or 10K Run

Select the 5K or 10K run and enjoy some of San Francisco's most beautiful neighborhoods. Registration is $45 for 5K and $50 for the 10K.  Both events are officially timed with timing chips and every participant receives a finisher medal.  Awards are presented to top 3 finishers in each division.  

The Plunge

The Polar Plunge challenges brave participants to take a chilly splash into the bay in support of Special Olympics!  Along with the icy dip, Plungers get to enjoy a full array of festivities including food and drinks (including 21+ beverages), music, games, incentives and more.  Each participant must raise or pay a minimum of $125 to take the Plunge.   If you are a Cool School participant, you must raise or pay a minimum of $50, but you will not earn the Polar Plunge T-shirt unless you raise a minimum of $125.  Water not your thing?  Register as a “chicken” and enjoy the same perks as our plungers while staying dry.   Not able to attend, but still want to help?  Register as a remote plunger.

Plunger & Runner
Want to really make an impact?  Register for the 5K or 10K and the Polar Plunge.  Pay the appropriate registration fee and raise or pay an additional minimum of $125 and you'll enjoy all kinds of perks!

Plunge Perks

Have a blast! All registered participants who raise or pay the minimum $125 are invited to the Pre-Splash Bash featuring complimentary beer and wine and other treats to provide some insulation before the icy Plunge.  Festivities will include a DJ, awards, costume contest, incentives and more.  Guest meal tickets can be purchased in on site.   Polar Plunge T-shirts are distributed at the Plunge, any other incentives you earn will be mailed to you.  Watch for an email after the Plunge to claim your rewards!

Costumes are strongly encouraged for both the Polar Plunge and the 5K/10K… Dress to Impress!
